One of the greatest vocalists of all time passed away today at age 63 from cancer. Donna was part of the Nashville community, a resident of Brentwood and enjoyed ‘shopping’ in downtown Franklin. As a friend of some her band members, I met Donna a few times and she was always gracious and nice a truly humble person.
She was known as the ‘Queen of Disco’ but she was more than that. Her live performances were electric and she was always pushing herself and the band members to greater heights.
Donna had some Grammy’s and even an Oscar for the song ‘Last Dance’ from the film ‘Thank God It’s Friday’, where she also had a role. Donna also was awarded honors from around the globe . . . she was even given the ‘Key’ to Atlantic City, NJ!
Donna is survived by her husband Bruce Sudano (Brooklyn Dreams) and her three lovely daughters and four grandchildren.
